Gordon & Smith Surfboard FAQs

Are Gordon & Smith surfboards made in Australia?
Gordon & Smith surfboards sold by Golden Breed are handmade in Noosa, Australia, bringing the brand's classic Californian shapes to boards crafted locally. Because they're made in-house, customs are available - you can change a colour or fin set-up to suit you. It's genuine, made-to-order craftsmanship rather than mass production.
What Gordon & Smith surfboards does Golden Breed sell?
Golden Breed stocks a range of G&S surfboards spanning traditional longboards, versatile mid-lengths and performance twin-fins, in lengths from around 6'4" up to 9'8". The range includes noseriding logs like the Nosemaster and Perfecto, user-friendly Easy Rider longboards, Cool Tool mid-length twins and Power Twin performance boards. Colours and models vary, so check the collection for current stock.
What's the difference between a longboard, a mid-length and a shortboard?
A longboard (around 9 feet and over) offers the most stability, paddle power and easy wave-catching, making it the classic choice for gliding and noseriding; a mid-length (roughly 7 to 8 feet) balances that stability with more manoeuvrability; and a shortboard or performance board (around 6 feet) is the most responsive and best suited to experienced surfers in punchier waves. G&S offers all three, so the right one depends on your ability and the waves you ride.
Which Gordon & Smith surfboard is best for beginners?
Beginners generally find a longer, more stable board easiest to learn on, because the extra length and volume make paddling and catching waves more forgiving - G&S longboards and user-friendly shapes like the Easy Rider suit this well. That said, the ideal board depends on your height, weight, fitness and local waves. The Golden Breed crew in-store can give you personalised advice and even set you up with a hire board to try first.
Can I order a custom Gordon & Smith surfboard?
Golden Breed can arrange custom G&S surfboards because the boards are made in Noosa, so you can change details like the colour or fin set-up to suit your preferences. If you find a shape you love but want it tweaked, the in-store crew can talk you through the options. Custom orders take longer than buying off the rack, so allow additional time.
Can I try a Gordon & Smith surfboard before I buy?
Golden Breed offers a surfboard hire and demo range, so you can take a G&S board for a spin before committing. Board hire is available at the Noosa Heads and Byron Bay stores, which is a great way to find the shape and size that feels right for you.
Does Golden Breed offer Free Delivery?

Yes. Golden Breed offers free standard delivery on Australian orders over $120. For international orders, shipping options, delivery costs and available delivery methods are shown at checkout before you place your order.
